Me Day at the Beach
I have spent most of my days with my daughter and grandson, but today I needed a Me day, a day to myself to enjoy the sun and perhaps take myself out for lunch and maybe some ice cream. So I did just that!

I sat at the beach nearby, listening to families play on the beach, and hearing the waves gently crashing on the shore, and I counted myself lucky to be able to enjoy the beautiful day that was today.

I am fortunate to be here, so close to the Pacific Ocean, and having a lovely day to myself walking the boardwalk and chatting to people who pass by me, and getting some much needed alone time. I am blessed!

I took myself out to a restaurant that was recommended by many people, The Boathouse, and I enjoyed some fresh fish and chips, a nice tall glass of cold water (I know – I’m boring that way!), and the amazing view from the rooftop patio. If anyone ever comes to White Rock, go here! The fish was delicately battered and flaky and so delicious, and the chips were cooked just right with good seasoning to it. It was all served with ketchup and this lovely homemade dill tartar sauce. I highly recommend it!

After lunch, I continued on down the boardwalk to the longest pier in Canada. I love the views from the pier, and was amazed to see how quickly the tide had come in since I had arrived at the beach. I was delighted to see all the starfish at the end of the pier. I had hoped to catch a glimpse of a passing whale but alas not this time.

It was a fantastic day and I feel refreshed and rejuvenated and ready for another day. This was exactly what I needed!
Time to move on !!
After a few months of turmoil and stress and indecision – finally a decision has been made for the next chapter in my life!
Next weekend, I will be embarking on a 6 day journey across the country to move closer to my son and his family, and my daughter and grandson. This decision was not taken lightly and I have pondered over the decision for the past few weeks. It’s not an easy decision but I am excited and anxious to get a(nother) new start on life!
I will be doing daily blogs of my adventure across this great country I call home – lots of pictures and stories to share. Perhaps I’ll even manage a video or two – but no promises on that one! Once I get settled out west, I will be back in full blogging mode. My blog has been lacking lately due to the stress of getting this new life organized!
Stay tuned!!

Seven years ago…
Seven years ago, I landed in Italy for my very first European trip. It was an amazing trip, with my daughter along, and meeting so many people from the States, and Australia – some are still friends! This was the trip that put the travel bug in me that hasn’t left. I loved Italy – in particular Venice – and I will definitely make it back there again. Some pictures from my trip!

Me time
Yesterday was my Dad’s funeral and because of the weather and it being outside, we had a 15 minute service. It was nice and we all went to brunch. My family drives me crazy but it was nice to be all together ❤.
But today was me day. I rented a car and took off for the day. Went for a drive and had breakfast at one of my favourite places, Angel’s Diner.

Came home and did some cleaning. Then I took off again. Some shopping and driving down to the beach. It was surreal at the waterfront. The fog was slowly lifting and it made for some amazing views.

I ended up on a patio, enjoyed an early dinner of a Pickerel Po’boy sandwich. It was a perfect me day. Sometimes we need mental health days to reset our minds.

I don’t do this very often, as I don’t have a car. Rented one for the past couple of days and definitely made it worth my while!
Beautiful days are ahead
A day spent with two of my loves – my daughter and grandson. And a lovely walk tonight on my own enjoying the peace and solitude. A perfect day.

It’s okay to relax
Last night, I decided to break one of my rules of isolation, and had my best friend over for a home cooked meal, some wine, enjoyable conversation and even threw in a game of Tri-Bonds! It was just what we both needed – a night of normalcy during these times.

I’m off today and tomorrow, so today I took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a nice long walk, sat in the sun for a bit, and then headed over to a lovely bakery close by for a decadent afternoon treat!

What do you do to treat yourself on a beautiful relaxing day off?
