Walk a Mile for a Smile – Update!

I blogged a few months ago about the walk I am organizing, and it is getting closer and things have changed slightly with it.

Due to my move, it is going to be a virtual walk and despite me wanting it to be a 4 day event, that just wasn’t feasible. So it’s now a virtual walk that will have the last day to take place of September 25 2021. Since it’s a virtual walk, I am suggesting that whenever anyone wants to do the walk, they can go ahead and do it, and to post a video of it on my social media pages. Donation information will be forthcoming.

Walk a Mile for a Smile – Sept 24 to 27 2021

I am so proud to finally be able to tell everyone about my fundraising campaign for 2021.

My daughter and son have both suffered with mental health issues, especially recently, as well as many friends. I wanted to do something this year, especially with the pandemic raging and causing more people mental stress issues, to raise money and awareness of this ongoing problem.

In that regard, I am going to be doing a 4 day walk (along with others coming along with me) from Hamilton Ontario to Niagara Falls Ontario. It’s an 80 km walk that will be done over 4 days in late September. I am so excited for the walk and if anyone is interested in donating towards this great cause, I would be delighted. Even if you are just interested in reading a bit more about it, that’s great too!

Mental Health is an issue that affects so many people every day – and even more so during a pandemic.

Walk a Mile for a Smile

I am a big supporter for mental health awareness. My children have both suffered with mental health issues over the years – depression, anxiety, and addiction. I have been there for them through all the pain and anxiety they went through. And I want to do something to show them that I am still there for them no matter what.

Last year, during the height of the pandemic, I decided I wanted to raise money for the Food Banks of Ontario, and I created a recipe book containing recipes from friends and family. It was a big success for me, and the sales of the cookbook raised over $800 for the local Food Banks.

This year, with the pandemic causing so much anxiety for people as it drags on, I want to do something more. I want to get my community involved and want to raise awareness of the stress the lockdowns are causing. So I am organizing a walk to take place in September.

I will be doing the walk – approximately 80 km, over four days, from September 24 to 27 2021, in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Mental health affects all of us in some way, and with Covid-19 causing so many people to suffer with mental health issues, this is the perfect time to do something to help others.

I am striving to help as many people as possible and to let everyone know that we are all in this together!
